A PROJECT FOR THE CONSERVATION AND SOCIAL WORK IN THE HISTORIC CENTER

A private visit which will allow you to get to know the inner circles of social work, the conservation, restoration and protection historic Havana’s heritage, given by the Historian’s office of the City of Havana: Eusebio Leal. Visit this highly specialized tour includes:

• An explanation of the Historian’s Office Project, Habaguanex and San Cristobal, the tourist agencies in the historic center who participate actively, with the revenues generated, in the restoration and protection of the heritage.

• An explanation of the Master Plan as a driver of the restoration project.

• A visit of the historical center with important conclusions recognizing these institutions for their important social work: Birthplace of Leonor Perez, a care place for the elderly, Ramon y Cajal, and also a visit to the protected housing of Vieja Plaza as well as the Home Rehabilitation Center, Regueiro Senen.

• A guided visit to the restored workshop of Gaspar Melchor Jovellanos • A guided tour of the intergenerational community project in the Convent of Belen.

THE SECRET PROJECT OF THE BARBIER

Take a guided tour of the Community Project. The art of haircutting, an initiative since 1999 conducted by the barber, Gilberto Valladares in the Angel District in Old Havana. The visitor will learn the importance of the integration between the population, the private companies and the importance of saving a business as old as the world: the barber! During the visit, you will enjoy the barber shops, art galleries and paintings of local artists, and a textile shop. Another highly interesting activity, but not included in this tour, is getting a haircut in the museum shop, in the middle of ancient artifacts.
